Using the FARMD Forum
Using FARMD’s Blogs and Groups
FARMD aims to promote the exchange of knowledge in agricultural risk management. As part of this work FARMD is pleased to provide a platform where members can share ideas and engage in dialogue
The FARMD Forum enables member to: engage in discussions based around topic-specific forums; publish blog posts; create discussion areas, and comment on members blogs and postings.
Only FARMD members may use the FARMD Forum (registration can be accessed here). Members are free to start their own blogs or comment on others. Members are encouraged to fill out their user profiles and include a photo of themselves in order that other FARMD members may learn more about them.

Blogs:
FARMD members are welcome to post blog entries on topics realted to agricultural risk management. Blogs are also a great way of sharing information about current projects and initiatives that members are working on.
When posting on FARMD, please keep in mind the following:
- Feel free to include photos and related links to documents, websites, and news where relevant.
- All blog posts are checked by a site administrator before publication in order to avoid malicious content.
- Should users be found posting malicious or offensive content, their membership to FARMD will be revoked.
Groups:
FARMD Members are also able to create their own groups and discussions, join existing groups and discussion threads, and ask questions to fellow group members. Groups allow for users to join together to discuss specific agricultural risk topics.
When creating a group, we ask you to consider the following:
- Please verify that there is not yet a group on your given topic of interest
- Consider keeping groups broad enough to foster several discussion forums within the group
- Feel free to invite others to join the group you have created, should you feel they would have an interest in participating in the discussion
Discussions
Discussion threads are housed within each group, and can be commented on by all group members. Discussions are how conversation is organized within a group and are centered on a given question or sub-topic related to the group. When creating a discussion thread, please note:
- All discussion threads must be appropriate for the group and audience to which they are addressed. The discussion must be directly related to the overall group topic.
- Discussion threads are moderated, and any misuse or malicious content posted will promptly be removed and the user’s membership terminated.
- Please attempt to keep discussion thread titles to no more than 25 words and include any additional relevant information, links or further reading in the discussion topic body.
- Discussion topics are meant to be areas for quick and lively discussion, longer pieces of writing should be posted as blogs for users to comment on.
